The Met Police have confirmed that rumours of all police leave being cancelled is entirely untrue.
A hoax has been spreading round the internet, claiming that all Met officers have been called to work for 4am today.
However, Chief Superintendent Paul Brogden from the British Transport Police has insisted there is no truth to the reports.
Social media contains lots of rumours regarding threats to tube network tomorrow. There is no specific threat so keep calm & carry on. 1/2— Ch Supt Paul Brogden (@BTP_B_Division) August 31, 2014
Rumour control: The "alert" doing the rounds on social about all Met officers being called in for 4am tomorrow is a hoax.— Sgt Nathan Shickle (@MPSBatterseaSgt) August 31, 2014
The viral message has been prompted following the government's decision to raise the terror threat level from 'substantial' to 'severe' due to the threat of IS jihadis.
However, Home Secretary Theresa May insisted that while that meant a terrorist attack was "highly likely", there is no specific intelligence of an imminent attack.
