James Max lives in West London. He is a qualified chartered surveyor with 15 years business experience in finance, investment and property. He came to the public’s attention as a semi-finalist in the first series of BBC’s “The Apprentice”.
Over the past two years, James has redefined his career to become a broadcaster and writer. He regularly reviews the newspapers on Sky News and LBC News 1152. Since April 2006 he has presented the weekday Business Update on TalkSPORT’s Drivetime show with Ian Wright and Adrian Durham. He also has a weekly business slot on Phil Kennedy’s drivetime show on BBC Radio Berkshire. Writing a monthly lifestyle column for Property Week magazine keeps him up to date with what’s hot! He has also written for The Sunday Times, Times Online and AOL.
On TV, he co-presents “Property Pensions” on Overseas Property TV and is a regular contributor to “Ask the Property Experts”. He has made several short films for BBC2’s “Working Lunch” programme and contributed the business reports for “Harvey Goldsmith’s The Encore” on E4. He was the business correspondent for The Hotel Channel.
An accomplished public speaker, James often hosts corporate events. In 2007, he hosted the LBC News 1152 and CITY AM “City Life Awards”. Having been a guest speaker at the Shell LiveWire final earlier in the year, he will be hosting the Shell Step Awards final. In November, he will host two live events for Lloyds TSB, the sponsor of his show on LBC 97.3 FM.
James went to school in London and studied Land Management at Reading University. He is a qualified chartered surveyor and has a range of formal qualifications. His business career spans 15 years. He started his working life at DTZ, one of the country’s leading firms of property advisors. By the age of 26, he was a director of the firm and head of European Investment. He then joined Morgan Stanley, the investment bank and worked in their investment banking division before becoming a partner of one of Europe’s leading private equity houses.
