MP Who Reported Warsi Makes Shock Admission
Tuesday 5th June 2012
The Labour MP who referred Baroness Warsi to the police over her expenses claim told LBC 97.3 that he wouldn't have done the same for an MP from his own party.
Despite insisting it was a serious offence and not a party political issue, Karl Turner, the MP for Hull East, then admitted he would not have reported a Labour MP for the same transgression.
Mr Turner was speaking to James Whale on LBC 97.3 when he made the startling admission, causing the presenter to call him two-faced.
Conservative MP Louise Mensch tweeted "Labour really are disagraceful opportunists", while Labour's Paul Flynn hit back, saying "Crude try to shoot messenger & distract attention from serious allegation of new Tory incompetance and sleaze."
Baroness Warsi has been accused of claiming expenses for accommodation while staying at a friend's house rent free.
