My iPad contacts are duplicated

After syncing my new iPad, a lot of my contacts are duplicated. How do I solve this?

You have to be brave, Ian. Make sure your contacts are all backed up in an address book on your computer, then delete all the contacts on your iPad and sync it again.

This will add just one version of each contact back on to your iPad.
