New Impetus in WPC Murder Inquiry

It's reported Metropolitan Police officers may travel to Libya to try to solve the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher outside the Libyan Embassy in London 27 years ago.

The police are refusing to comment on the story in The Daily Telegraph which names a new suspect, Abdulmagid Salah Ameri, who was a junior diplomat at the time.

Eyewitness reports suggest he fired shots at a demonstration outside the building.

The Foreign Office has released a statement saying it stands ready to help detectives travel to Libya and that solving the case will be important to the UK's relations with a new Libyan government.
