These are thugs who launched a vicious assault on a man and woman who asked them to stop smoking on the Docklands Light Railway.

Just after midnight on Saturday 27 August the male and female victims were travelling on the train towards All Saints station, when they were assaulted by a group who were challenged for smoking onboard the train.

Lead investigator for this incident Detective Sergeant Fin Egan, said: “Both victims were innocently returning from a night out. They simply requested the woman put out her cigarette, no one could imagine they would suddenly become violent.

"Thankfully, their injuries were not serious, however I am determined to trace this group and make sure they are brought to justice."

Police say the gang boarded the train at Devons Road, they then left at All Saints station.

DC Egan added: “I am very keen to hear from anyone who might information that will assist my enquiries, please get in touch.”
