Nick Clegg: Anti-Thatcher Parties Are 'Puerile'

Thursday 11th April 2013

Nick Clegg says those planning anti-Thatcher parties are "completely puerile".

Speaking on his weekly LBC 97.3 phone in show Call Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister said the events are "out of keeping with the nation".

He said: "I don't think they speak for the country at all these people who are jumping up and down at joy at her death I just feel that's totally out of step with what - on the whole - has been a pretty sombre and pretty grown up reflection and debate on her passing away."

Scotland Yard says extra police will be in Trafalgar Square on Saturday as campaigners plan another event.

More details on the security operation for Margaret Thatcher's funeral are to be announced later.
