Hear A Londoner's Account of The Mumbai Terror Attack

Posted by Nick Ferrari on November 28, 2008 at 14:38PM

Joey Jeetun, of Bethnal Green, arrived back from India this morning and shared his remarkable story with Nick

Nick began today's show witht he latest news on the ongoing terrorist attacks in Mumbai . We spoke with Mihir Joshi (radio DJ in Mumbai) who brought us the latest figures on the dead and injured and gave a perspective of the mood of the city, and how people are reacting to the saga. Nick's other guest Crispin Black (Security expert, research fellow at Chatham House) explained to Nick why this is a very different style of terrorist operation than the ones we are used to - adding that It has been staged more like a coup, than a traditional terrorist attack, with large sections of the city taken over.

Later in the show we managed to contact Joey Jeentun of Bethnal Green. He had recently arrived back in London having been directly involved in the events in Mumbai. Joey told Nick how he'd been sat in a popular Mumbai Cafe at the moment terroists entered the building. He explained the scene of death and carnage that surrounded him; the person beside him had been fatally shot in the head. Joey believed pretending to be dead was the only thing that prevented him from being a victim himself (Listen to the the Nick Ferrari Bitesize Podcast to hear the full interview)
