Should children as young as five be put on a 'hate' register?

Posted by Nick Ferrari on March 04, 2010 at 11:24AM

Are playground comments the first sign of racism of homophobia?

Are we imperialists here? South African President Jacob Zuma attacked Britain's colonial past yesterday. But was it upset at comments about his polygamous lifestyle in the press? Or just playing politics? Jon Snow recalled his memories of friend Michael Foot, who died yesterday aged 96.

Is it right for head teachers to have such a thing as a 'hate' register for children who make racist or homophobic comments? Do children as young as five actually understand that certain comments are racist? Do they know the meaning of the word? Plus, rheumatoid arthritis sufferers in England are to be denied a drug that's already available in Scotland.

Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell joined me in the studio to take your calls. Vancouver is over, now the spotlight turns to London. Are we ready for 2012? The biggest bugbear for you this morning though - why won't Londoners and UK residents get preference when buying tickets? On World Book Day, what books have you passed on to your children?

I'll be back tomorrow morning from 7am.
