Are our social services failing again?

Posted by Nick Ferrari on July 28, 2010 at 11:47AM

How did we manage to fail yet another small child? Plus, school's out for the summer...

Let's not use the phrase lessons have been learnt. Lessons clearly haven't been learned after another young child was left to starve to death by her mother and stepfather. A 180-page document has been produced criticising several agencies after seven-year old Khyra Ishaq dying from starvation in 2008. Do you ever 'clean' your mobile phone? Research shows there are often more germs on that than there are in toilet bowl. Nice. Should David Cameron be kow-towing to Turkey? Would they be a welcome partner in Europe? What about his comments on Gaza?

7,000 independent shops have closed in the last six years in London. Should the mayor be doing more to protect these small businesses from high rates and encroaching supermarkets? What do you do with a difficult child? A mother's told of her difficulties with a son with ADHD - so where do you turn? Plus, we talked to one mum about how she's keeping the kids entertained over summer; and what's the weirdest sandwich you've ever eaten?

I'll be back tomorrow morning from 7am.
