LBC's been told Health and Safety rules had 'nothing to do' with the loss of 6 lives at the Tower Block fire in Camberwell.

LBC's been told Health and Safety rules had 'nothing to do' with the loss of 6 lives at the Tower Block fire in Camberwell. London Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson - speaking to James Whale this evening - categorically rejected accusations fire crews had been pulled out of Lakanal House to protect themselves during the height of the fire last Friday. Some local people had claimed they'd been told to return to their flats by firefighters - but ignored them and that's why they're alive today.

After serious damage by fire, we're told emergency services at The Mayday Hospital in Croydon should soon be restored. No one was hurt in the flames, but Managers have told LBC patients are suffering as a result of the closure. Dan Freedman reported from outside the hospital for the Nightly News.

Ken Livingstone's defended his expenses bill at City Hall as a senior Tory there's refusing to come clean over his taxi bills. LBC's Political Correspondent Tom Cheal reported.

We all remember the famous quote - "This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind..." Well this month marks forty years since the first moon landing. As part of celebrations - a primary school in North West London was visited by NASA astronaut Greg Chamitoff. LBC's Kat Higgins was there and had the latest for the Nightly News.
