A massive fire brought the heart of Soho to a standstill, gutting an historic building. At its height smoke could be seen from as far away as Holland Park and Canary Wharf. LBC's Tom Cheal was on Dean Street for the Nightly News with the latest.
Ten deaths in ten days in Afghanistan. It's been the bloodiest week since the start of the war back in 2001. A short time ago we heard that the tenth victim died this morning. The soldier was in the second Royal Tank Regiment - he was killed in an explosion in the Helmand province. This latest death comes after an attack on the Government for spending the minimum it can on the war. We heard from Gordon Brown, who's been defending the defence budget. This came as Colonel Bob Stewart's been telling LBC's James Whale the troops aren't getting the manpower they need.
A row's broken out between the mayor's office and the London Assembly over reports of a 1.7 billion pound funding gap at Transport for London. The Assembly claims the recession will force Boris Johnson to raise fares and cut services but his office insists it'll continue to invest, and fares will stay affordable. Charlie Girling reported for the Nightly News.
In an LBC exclusive, our showbiz editor Jo Parkerson's been chatting with creators of The Office and Extras, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. They're making their first film together - filming in central London locations and Shepperton studios until the end of August. The movie called 'Cemetary Junction' is set in seventies and is due out next Summer.
