Police Hunt For Bodies In Finsbury Park Garden
Monday 14th July 2014
Detectives have started a forensic search of a back garden of a house in Finsbury Park after allegations that human remains are buried there.
Specialist teams have started a systematic excavation of the property in Searle Place.
Police are acting on information received in July 2013, dating back about 30 years. The subsequent investigation has taken them abroad to attempt to substantiate the allegations.
Islington Borough Commander Gerry Campbell said: "Detectives in Islington have carried out a thorough investigation in order to corroborate the allegations made.
"After examining all the information the investigation has produced and with careful consideration, I have made the decision that it is appropriate to excavate the garden. Until the conclusion of the search it would be inappropriate of me to comment further."
The current owners of the house are not involved in the investigation.
