Police Release Image of Thief Who Stole From Pensioners

Tower Hamlets Police officers have released an e-fit of a man who stole money from pensioners by pretending to be a police officer.
On Friday, 4 April, two men in Stepney Green, both in their 80s, answered the door of their home for a man they believed was a police officer. He wore a navy blue jumper with the word ‘police’ written on it in white.
The man claimed that he was there to speak to the elderly residents about “found” money and demanded to see their cash.
The men were told he would be able to install CCTV in the home but once the money was handed over to him, the thief fled the scene.
Police are looking for a thin white man, aged 45-55, 5ft 7inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
Tower Hamlets Police have reminded members of the publlic that police carry identification cards and will show other official documents before coming into a home to make a search.
