Policeman Spent 20 Minutes Chasing Himself
Wednesday 8th February 2012
A policeman spent 20 minutes chasing trying to apprehend himself.
A CCTV operator didn’t realise that the rookie officer was undercover and kept telling him to follow a man through the streets of Sussex – but it turned out to be the policeman himself.
The mistake was only discovered when the officer’s sergeant entered the room and recognised the officer.
Writing in Police Magazine, the sergeant said: “The CCTV operator soon had the suspect on camera and everywhere he saw the male the keen PC was on his heels - radioing in to say he was in the same street.
"Every time the man darted in to another side alleyway, the PC was turning immediately into the same alleyway, but every time the CCTV operator asked what he could see there was no trace.”
