Labour Christmas song

MP Siobhain McDonagh has roped in her Labour colleagues to record an "embarrassing" Christmas single.

The song, entitled National Living Rage, is aimed at raising awareness of the squeeze on living standards by the current government.

Singing with Ms McDonagh are Dan Jarvis, Mary Creagh and shadow education secretary Angela Rayner as they changed the lyrics of the Band Aid classic Do They Know It's Christmas?

The song was not particularly well-received on social media, with one commenter writing: "Who wrote the lyrics and why are they unable to understand rhyme?"

Labour Christmas Song: Full Lyrics

Christmas is hard on the national minimum wage,
At Christmas time, we give, but some employers take.
And we know that they have plenty,
But they give out less and less,
Stand up against their greed this Christmas time.

Make them be fair, fair to their hard-working staff.
At Christmas time, it's hard but their having a laugh.
No double time on Sundays, your Christmas bonus gone.
Your overtime's now ended, you lunches have been took.
Just to keep their profit margin, and they just don't give a damn.
So right now, it's great for them and bad for you.

And there won't be double time no more on Sundays.
No legacy pay, just more unsocial hours.
And one thing you should know,
We should tell them where to go,
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

B&Q, Tesco and Waitrose,
John Lewis, Caffè Nero and Eat,
Be ashamed of how you treat your staff.

Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
Keep their perks,
Dont't be scrooge, it's Christmas time!
