Postcode Lottery Victim to Get Life Saving Treatment
Tuesday 28th August 2012
A woman who thought her hope of getting life-saving treatment on the NHS was lost has had a dramatic reprieve, thanks in part to LBC 97.3.
Angela Tyerman is a 38 year-old single mother from Chichester with a young teenage son.
A hospital in Birmingham had agreed to carry out and part fund the specialist surgery she needs, but - due to the postcode lottery - her own primary care trust in Sussex had refused to pay its £15,000 share of the cost.
LBC 97.3's Julia Hartley-Brewer took up the case after taking a call on air from Angela's sister, Pauline and campaigned for the women with the help of Angela's MP.
Today she came into the LBC 97.3 studio to tell her story and describe the moment she was told she's going to have her operation - next week:
