Prince William Writes to Riot Hit Business

Reeves Store big

October 6th 2011

The Duke of Cambridge has handwritten a letter of support to the family whose burning furniture store came to symbolise the violence of the London riots.

Prince William sent the note to the Reeves family who were widely praised for their stoicism after the inferno which destroyed one of their business premises in Croydon.

According to the Daily Telegraph the Prince describes his "total shock and anger" in the letter and said he looked "forward to visiting the new shop soon".

The furniture store was more than a century old and had survived two world wars when it was burnt to the ground in August.

It has been in the Reeves family for five generations.
