Pro-Palestine Protesters Gather Outside Israeli Embassy
Friday 1st August 2014
Thousands gather outside of Israeli Embassy in Kensington to Peacefully Protest Continued Aggression in Palestinian-Israeli Conflict.
The protest was planned for 5:30 pm and drew crowds of thousands who carried placards and marched near the embassy and along High Street Kensington.
LBC’s Lorraine Horgan was on the scene along with some 50 Met officers stationed at the site to prevent any potential violence. Horgan said: “Their faces are painted red, white, and green. They’re carrying banners saying Gaza, stop the massacre, Gaza stop the siege.’”
It is thought that more than 40 Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers have been killed today as the 72 hour UN negotiated humanitarian cease fire agreed just yesterday has crumbled.
The cease fire collapsed after just a few hours amid reports that Israeli soldier, Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, 23 was kidnapped by Hamas during a tunnel raid.
The conflict is now 25 days old with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon publically condemning the violence and calling for an end to the fighting in order to spare innocent civilians.
