In this remarkable interview with LBC, the Shadow Transport Secretary criticised the government for delaying the airports decision... but refused to say which option he backs.

Andy McDonald MP consistently refused to answer questions from Clive Bull about whether he preferred a new runway at Heathrow or Gatwick Airports.

Speaking on LBC, Mr McDonald said: "The government has been paralysed by this decision and keep on putting it off and off."

But Clive replied: "It sounds to me like you haven't made your mind up about this decision either then. We're complaining about how long it's taken, we've had so much scrutiny and reports all over the place. And still you're not sure."

Mr McDonald insisted he just wanted a decision and, despite constant questions, he could not say which one he wanted.

Clive asked a very specific question: "Do you back Heathrow, or Gatwick, or none of them?"

Mr McDonald's response: "I think any expansion has got to take place at one of those three options. That's for the government to make a decision."
