Liam Halligan joined Iain Dale for the Brexit Briefing this week and he really let Sir Ivan Rogers have it over the way our former EU Ambassador quit.

The columnist was in studio with Sir Vince Cable and made it quite clear that he was dismayed at Sir Ivan over how - and why - he quit as our man in Brussels.

"This is a guy who's been paid from the public purse, and will be paid from the public purse...until the day he dies in order to give independent advice and then to keep his mouth shut.

"And yet he's briefing against the government.

"Maybe he his email was leaked - or maybe he leaked it himself!

"The email that he wrote completely confuses his own opinion with truth," continued Halligan, before then lambasting Rogers' comments about the UK economy as being "unimaginative" and "ill-informed".

It's a storming bit of analysis of the most talked about story of the year so far.

Halligan was in studio with Iain Dale for the Brexit Briefing, the weekly series reflecting on our exit from the EU. Tune in every Thursday at 6.30pm for the latest - or download the podcast on iTunes.
