A friend of 18-year-old Georgina Callander, who was one of 22 killed in the Manchester bombing, has delivered an emotional tribute to her.

Melissa Dee told Iain Dale that the pair had met about two years ago at a concert in Manchester.

“From the second I met her I knew she was special, she’s just such an incredible person without a single fault about her,” Melissa said.

“She was always there for everyone and she has as heart made out of pure gold and she’s just a ray of sunshine that nobody could ever replace.”

Police have named the man suspected of carrying out the devastating attack as 22-year-old Salman Abedi.

A further 59 people were injured in the blast which happened at the end of the Ariana Grande concert on Monday night.

Speaking about the moment she heard the news, Melissa said: “It was horrible. Usually when [Georgina] goes to a concert she tweets afterwards and explains how it was.

“But she never did, so I thought something must be wrong… and then I heard this morning and I’ve never cried to much in my life.” Melissa Dee told Iain Dale that Georgina was a "ray of sunshine" and says she hasn't been able to stop crying since she heard the news.

More follows shortly.
