Ken Loach On Benefits: "Hunger Is Used As a Weapon"
The award winning British director gave a powerful indictment of the benefit system that leaves people "in fear" and humiliated.
During an interview with Iain Dale, Ken Loach revealed some of the stories of people struggling on benefits that he learned while researching his latest film 'I, Daniel Blake'. And his assessment of the system was damning.
“People are living in fear, people are being humiliated. Hundreds of thousands of them.
“Hunger is being used as a weapon against people to discipline them. I think this is the big story that needs to be presented.”
