Iain Dale: Why Angela Merkel’s Comments About Britain Are A Disgrace

Iain Dale is furious over Angela Merkel's comments about Britain.

Angela Merkel has said the EU can no longer rely on Britain and America - but Iain Dale has pointed out why these kind of remarks are a disgrace.

During an election rally in a Munich beer tent on Sunday, the German Chancellor called for the EU to “take its fate into its own hands”.

Although she called for “friendship” with the US and Britain, she warned, “the times in which we can fully count on others are somewhat over”.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd responded insisting Germany could still depend on the UK, but the German’s comments have left Iain furious.

In a passionate rant, the LBC presenter reminded Ms Merkel of some home truths, including Germany’s failure to meet the 2 per cent Nato spending target.

“I don’t know how she had the cheek to stand there and say it,” Iain fumed.
