Ian Payne’s Controversial Argument For Handing Gibraltar Back To Spain

There has been a whole lot of talk over the past few days about Gibraltar after it emerged Spain could veto any decision affecting the British peninsula during Brexit talks.

The move has infuriated some, who see it as another attempt by Spain to try and reclaim sovereignty of The Rock.

However, Ian Payne doesn’t feel entirely that way...

The LBC presenter offered a controversial argument as to why all 14 British territories are “out of date” and should be handed back.

He said: “I don’t want to appear as somebody who is going to upset people, but I probably am.

“My personal view is, and I don’t know how we’d do it, I just feel in this day and age these things are a bit out of date now.

“I know people of the Falklands want to stay British, I know the same with Gibraltar, presumably the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands.

“It just seems to me in this day and age, simply having an island that’s British in the middle of the Caribbean is just an anachronism.”

Ian added: “I just think somehow we should hand these countries back to the country that used to own them or is nearest to them!”
