Nigel Farage has used his LBC show to speak out about a story which claimed he was a “person of interest” to the FBI’s investigation into Donald Trump and Russia.
The LBC presenter and former Ukip leader took to the airwaves to pick apart the story, claiming it was “fake news”.
The FBI is looking into possible collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
On Thursday, the Guardian reported that Nigel, who has not been accused of wrongdoing, had been drawn into the inquiry because of connections to the US President and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
Responding directly on his nightly LBC show, Nigel said: “Why is all this happening? It’s happening because frankly there are large sections of the liberal elite that simply can’t get over Brexit and Trump.
“They can’t believe people would do this so there must have been some grand conspiracy and the Russians fit the bill.
“Let me tell you this, I’ve never been to Russia, I’ve never done business with Russia, I’ve never had a bank account with the Russians.
“I’ve appeared three times on Russia Today in the last 18 months, I’ve been on Al Jazeera more and I’m hardly supporting jihadis.”
