Nigel Farage has doubled down on his promise to return to politics if the government does not deliver on Brexit.

The LBC presenter was furious at the latest proposal for a temporary customs union with the EU after Britain leaves the bloc in 2019.

He described the government’s announcement as the start of the “great Brexit betrayal”, as he exclaimed “we did not vote for this”.

This led Brian to text LBC and ask the former Ukip leader if he was now preparing to make his return to frontline politics.

Nigel responded: “I’m rather enjoying the radio show and the debate - it’s fun, leading a political party isn’t fun.

“But, I stand by my pledge and my promise that if at the end of this process we haven’t got the Brexit that we wanted, we haven’t got the Brexit we deserve, I would have no choice in those circumstance but to head back to the frontline of battle.

“We’re not there yet, but today was very much a step, in my view, in the wrong direction.”
