This Is Why Jeremy Corbyn Won Today

Watch the moment from the LBC Labour Leadership Debate that showed just why Jeremy Corbyn won such a resounding win today.

During our debate, Liz Kendall, Andy Burnham and Yvette Cooper refused to answer whether they would offer Ed Miliband a job on their shadow cabinet if they were elected leader.

But Mr Corbyn gave an answer straight away, suggesting the former Labour leader should "do the job he was doing very well" in Climate Change and the Environment. Miliband served as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change between 2008 and 2010.

"Why can't you give an answer like that?" LBC's Iain Dale asked Kendall, "You haven't been honest. You must know if you want a former leader of your party in your Shadow Cabinet."

"I have been honest," added Kendall, saying she wouldn't be drawn on a "ridiculous" question of who might make up her Shadow Cabinet. "I don't know what Ed wants to do in future."

Yvette Cooper and Andy Burnham also insisted they wouldn't answer the question, leading to Iain insisting that straight answers are why Mr Corbyn is so popular with the public.

"This is exactly why Jeremy Corbyn is shown in this mornings poll as way ahead of the rest of you. He's given me a straight answer and the three of you can't do that...if you can't answer simple questions that you must have given some thought to."
