Why Do Fridges Only Hold 8 Or 10 Eggs?

We buy eggs in dozen or half a dozen, but for some reason when you buy a new fridge the shelf for eggs only holds 8 or 10 - why?

Answer: You don’t want to have exactly the right amount of eggs and egg holders otherwise you’d run out more often. So you replace your eggs when you’ve got down to your last one or two.
