This lady often hears knocking around her house in a very specific knocking rhythm. James thought it might be a secret code from next door, but the answer is slightly more interesting!


Where does the knocking rhythm 'knock knock, kn-knock knock, knock knock' come from?

It comes from the tune of 'shave and a haircut, two bits' which was what people sang when they went door to door, offering haircuts.
