It seems like there are an awful lot of people who keep their curtains closed most of the time. A lot of them phones in last night to assure me that they were not terrorists and there was no need to phone the anti terrorism hotline. The general reaction to an appeal to being more vigilante and watch out for suspicious behaviour was at best luke warm. A few voices, including one police officer, stuck up for the idea and pointed out that we should all be helping each other.
I searched all night for someone who was affected by the 270,000 civil servants currently on strike. But there was no sign of the predicted mayhem. Just one happy texter who said there were no traffic wardens in his part of town so he could stay all day for free.
No one was buying the idea of bank charges for current accounts either. They've got your money and they can use it to make more money. What more do they want? And we wished a happy birthday to the London Eye. Ten years old today. And it has many fans. Even people with vertigo love it. Some have been back six times!
