David Cameron really has been putting himself about before his holidays. Everyday there's been at least a couple of statements. Clocks going back, David Beckham's career... and how tourism could be vital to the recovery. He wanted to know why more Chinese don't come here (with their 22nd choice in the list) and last night you told him. There are a number of reasons, and a crucial one appears to be related to visas. Probably for immigration reasons (?) we have not signed up to the european continental visa agreement. This means the visa that lets you travel around the rest of Europe doesn't count here. Several tourists told us that this is an off putting factor - including one skypeing us from Hong Kong.

In the search for London's ugliest building not everyone agreed with the title having been given to the Strata Tower. It's called the Electric Razor building by locals in Elephant and Castle. Most of my callers felt most of E and C could do with a makeover - especially the shopping centre which is lucky to have escaped demolition.
