Tony Blair and trail of cigarette ends

Two very contentious issues last night. Tony Blair and his book. And dropping cigarette ends! Blair first. The majority of callers were unimpressed with his gift to charity. Still angry with him for taking the country to a war it did not want or need. They always will be angry. Later, there was a backlash of sympathy towards Mr Blair. I personally don't think Mr Blair was trying to buy public affection with this. He is not stupid and he knows it wouldn't work. 

 

The handing out of fines for smokers who drop ash or cigarette ends turned out to be just as emotive. Some smokers feel they are already persecuted. My feeling is that litter is litter and you shouldn't drop it. People were attempting to justify dropping little bits of litter by pointing out that there are worse things left on the pavement. Not much of an argument really. We were all agreed though that smokers bins are required and would help.
