Every Friday I am joined by Susan Quilliam to listen to your amazing stories and where necessary, offer some advice. This week we heard from Sue who broke off her engagement last summer but hasn’t managed to leave him yet. Janet told us about her age gap relationship and how hard things were becoming as he became older and she found they had less and less in common. James took the classic role of ‘the other woman’ and was waiting painfully for his girlfriend to leave her partner for him, seemingly in vain and Simon told us about his amazing battle with health and a former relationship that has left him fighting on to find love in the future.
Susan’s ‘Sex Tip of the Week’ this week continued our tour round the house… With a view to ‘spicing’ up your sex life, tonight we ended up in the kitchen!
IF YOU CAN’T STAND THE HEAT…
Last week’s tip was all about what sexy things you can do in the bathroom. This week, we’re moving to the kitchen, which is an absolute treasure chest of sexy possibilities. For example…
- go to the fridge for foreplay. Cream or honey can be swirled all over her breasts or his shaft – avoid body orifices as food can cause infections – then licked off. Or pop a condom over a cucumber or banana and use it as a dildo.
- If there’s a flexible mixer unit on the taps, you can use water as a vibrator to stimulate her clitoris or his penis. Mix the temperature first though – too hot will burn – and keep the pressure low or you’ll bruise!
- sit her on the washing machine or tumble dryer, and set it going so that the movement turns her on. Then get her using a sex toy on herself (or him using one on her) to finish things off.
- use kitchen units of different heights for intercourse with a difference. Get her sitting on the worktop with him standing in front of her to penetrate – she can wrap her legs round his waist. Let him straddle a kitchen chair while she sits on top. Or get either bending forward over the kitchen table with buttocks in the air, and use your imagination.
- As a finale go to the freezer for some ice. Rub on sensitive areas – nipples, ear lobes, toes and buttocks – then follow up with warm (not hot!) chocolate (melted in the microwave). Go from cold, to hot to cold again to really make the point, and then give each other a final orgasm with hand or tongue. Enjoy!

After midnight I was joined by Cari Mitchell from the English Collective of Prostitutes who reacted to Home Office report this week that 1 in 10 men have used a sex worker at some point in their life. 10% of all men, that’s around 2 ½ million, visit an estimated 80,000 prostitutes each year and at around £60 a time, that works out as a £4 billion industry. It’s no wonder the government are interested!
Cari, naturally, spoke up for the rights of the women who work in the sex industry and discussed these figures with me. It was a fascinating insight into a world I have had very little contact with. What I found particularly interesting was her passion for openness and determination to drive the industry out into full public view.
Although Cari understandably believes this is possible, citing New Zealand’s proactive stance on their own sex industry as a model, I feel it is still a long way away in this country. Not least because of the majority moral stance on prostitution but also the inability of most men who use them to be honest about it…
I was particularly fascinated to hear from Karen who has worked as a prostitute for 15 years and described her way of life to me. It was the wonderful paradox of her comment that she dismayed at the sight of young girls parading themselves, scantily clad, around the High Street before she herself went home to dress up in stockings and suspenders to entertain her ‘gentlemen callers’.
