In the ‘Open Lines’ this week, Susan and I spoke to David told us how his 25 year marriage broke down after his urge to have children became too strong to ignore. Nick is 40 and is still to meet the right woman for him. Kate was 4 years divorced from an 8 year marriage and is nervous about dating and Jane was scared of meeting new guys after a mastectomy.

Every now and then it is always good to refresh your repertoire when it comes to your bedroom antics. Hence this week’s timely sex tip from Susan detailing 3 sexual positions you might not have tried before…
THREE MORE POSITIONS THAT YOU MAY NEVER HAVE TRIED
Did you know that there are over 600 possible intercourse positions, but the average couple normally uses only three! So this week, I’m going to give you three more suggestions – with increasing degrees of challenge – with which to widen your repertoire.
The Bend-Over
Let’s start with one that might come in useful if you’re wanting some hasty outdoor action in this hot weather. You both start standing, with her back to his. Then she bends all the way over – grasping her ankles if she’s really flexible – and presents her bottom. This makes it really easy for him to lift her skirt or slide her shorts down, and enter. Benefits for her - the angle means that his penis gets to hit that delicious front wall of her vagina. Benefits for him are that bending over may tighten her vagina and so give him more stimulation. Benefit for outdoor sex are that he can get access quickly… though if you’re caught it might be a bit difficult to explain away!
The Spinning Top
Takes some acrobatics but is worth the effort. She lies on her back, he lies on top and enters in the normal way – but then twizzles round until his feet are by her head and vice versa. It can be a little difficult to keep ‘connection’, but the angle gives a unusual sensation for both of you and she can get very good pressure on her clitoris. Plus, it offers a variety of stimulation that you don’t normally get with intercourse – he can lick her feet and toes, she can lick his, and she can also fondle his buttocks and slide a (lubricated, condomed) finger up his anus to fondle his prostate gland, which is a few cms in.
Two Partners and a Chair
This one will appeal to all of you who like your positions absolutely impossible and very acrobatic. Not for the faint-hearted or anyone with weak muscles – but if you’re brave and strong give it a try! Take a stable share and jam it firmly against a wall such that it won’t move. Then she stands legs apart on the chair – bracing herself with her hands on the wall if she needs to – while he stands behind her and holds her waist while she lowers herself down. If you both have really strong stomach muscles she can then let go of the wall and lean back against him. The joy is not so much in the sensation as in the sheer anxious excitement of balancing and thrusting at the same time.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the three intercourse positions that the average couple use are… the missionary (him on top), the cowgirl (her on top), and doggie (him entering her from behind.)
PS: helpful hint… the first and last of these positions can be used not just with vaginal but also with anal intercourse.

After midnight I was joined live in the studio but the highly experienced sexual health nurse, Justin Gaffney. He has worked for many years for the NHS specialising in the GUM (Genito-urinary Medicine) field and more recently started his own private practice called Metrosexual.
Sexual health comes up regularly on the show through the various questions we get asked but it is a while since I have had an opportunity to focus specifically on it for a full hour. In all honesty, it is such a diverse and complex subject; we barely had time to scratch the surface (if you'll excuse the unfortunate analogy!)
In the final hour of the show we spoke about everything from Chlamydia to Peyronie's disease.

I’ll be back with Susan next Friday from 10pm to answer more of your questions. Join us then if you can,
