Labour backbencher has spoken today about MPs needed to fight for their right to exist. I agree wholeheartedly with the policies that he wants Labour to adopt. I remember when New Labour came to power, and it was all very nice but in the last ten or so years, have they really done anything major? I think it's time for New Labour to reinvent itself because it's in real danger of becoming outdated.
I also spoke to John Dickie from London First, who spoke to me about the effect of the tube strike on the reputation on London. We are one of, if not THE best city in the world, yet our workers were stuck trying to get to work because of the actions of a few drivers. Does it make us look bad that train drivers who earn around £40,000 plus whatever they make in overtime can stop an entire city from working? Bob Crow may have his reasons for calling on RMT union members to strike but he needs to remember that train drivers are asking for more money at a time when people are losing their jobs.
