The legacy of 2012

Posted by Ken Livingstone on February 20, 2010 at 13:33PM

What will be the legacy of 2012 and is Boris's transport strategy any good?

Boris Johnson this week unveiled his transport strategy but are there any winners as a consequence of it? I sopke to the Association of British Drivers who believe that drivers are still being punished by draconian road rules. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take some of that blame, but the truth is that getting cars off the road means more money for London via public transport. I also spoke to Boris's transport advisor Kulveer Ranger about the strategy and why there are so many problems on our roads at the moment.

I also discussed the legacy of the Olympics being held in East London. It seems that whilst the objective of hosting the games in East London was to get unemployed people in to work, the reality is very different. The worst thing that can happen is that we are left with a sizeable portion of local people unemployed, and that housing problems still occur.

More from me next week
