Bendy bus vs the new Routemaster

Posted by Ken Livingstone on May 22, 2010 at 13:46PM

Which is the better form of transport for London, and who will be the new Labour leader?

Mayor Boris unveiled his new Routemaster bus this week, and many Londoners are looking forward to seeing them on the roads. Now obviously, I'm slightly biased, but I truly believe that the bendy bus was much better! I put it to you and you voted in your droves online, and the final result was that 75% of you preferred the new Routemaster - so that showed me!

Of course, the new Routemaster won't be exactly the same as the old one - the hop on/hopp off feature won't be featured as heavily and speaking to David Brown from TFL we learnt that on certain routes, when feasible, PCSO's will be on the bus to deal with any problems.

I also spoke to author and journalist Lance Price who gave me his views and opinions on the Labour leader debate. The problem Labour have at the moment is that they need someone who can not only lead the party, but who can do so without coming across too "New Labour." Podcast the show to hear who Lance would like to see in the main chair.

New Chair of the London Assembly, Dee Doocey joined me in the studio to look through the papers, and also to tell me exactly how the plans for London 2012 is going.

more from me next week
