How well do you understand autism?

Severely autistic children have been locked up in punishment rooms for hours because their behaviour is deemed “difficult". Do we understand it well enough?

Severely autistic children have been locked up in punishment rooms for hours at one school in London, because their behaviour is deemed “difficult”. The story in today’s Daily Express led to an enlightening conversation on my show this afternoon about how well we understand autism.

Pam in Molesley has worked with people with the condition for 30 years. She called to explain why she thinks there’s so little understanding of it and told us how she now runs training sessions to teach you about autism.

This is her website: www.autismtraining.net

Thank you joining me this weekend. I’m back next Saturday from 1pm.
