Inevitably John Sargeant dominated discussion tonight. I can't help feeling it's all a bit shameful. The public voted for him, and one way or another he is now out. I think it is because the producers planned to manipulate the public to vote a certain way - and we didn't play ball. The only way out was for John to stand down "with dignity". It would have been too embarrassing to have him win. To have to offer to reimburse voters means something really has gone rather wrong.
We also celebrated the Woolworths we used to love, and wondered how it has ended up potentially being sold for £1. Many had fond memories of the store, and some still love it. But it seems it really lacks a USP. What is Woolworths really for these days? Pick n Mix?
Despite the recession we are still spending as much as ever on our pets. I wondered what accessories we are buying. One lady admitted to a £100 collar and lead for her dog. My recent purchases include a scratching post for Gremlin which everyone agrees doesn't seem to work. And a cat basket which is less popular than sleeping in the bin.
And stand by for Sargeant - The Movie. Nominations for the lead role: Danny De Vito, Jim Broadbent and topping the list... Jo Brand.
