The first two hours of the show last night were dominated by litter and the prospect of Westminster's new crack team of neighbourhood wardens. Handing out £80 fines as they go about their business they proved surprisingly controversial. The biggest problem is what happens if the litter bug refuses to give their details. What use is a fixed penalty notice then? The police would have to be called, if indeed the offender even sticks around. Almost everyone though was agreed that we need to get out of the habit of expecting people to clear up after us. Somehow we have ton get people to respect their environment a little more, and that includes the bin men who litter as they collect.

 

If you're one of those listeners who drifts off to sleep at midnight you missed a fun hour as we talked about the lady the got asked for ID before should could buy a slice of quiche. Turns out its not unusual. One man told us he needed ID before he could buy batteries - he was 55. And is Avatar really going to be the biggest box office hit?  Not if ignore inflation and just judge by number of tickets sold. Then you get a completely different chart. The 1939 blockbuster Gone With The Wind gets the top slot, followed by Star Wars, The Sound of Music, ET and The Ten Commandments.
