Brains, trains and automobiles

Posted by Anthony Davis on March 12, 2010 at 05:23AM

Don't you remember?

Bonjour,

This morning we asked ‘drive it or train it’, after Lord Adonis announced the new high speed train link from London to Birmingham. We questioned the incentive required to leave the car at home, when the journey time by train is not much quicker, and is certainly more expensive. How does the Government increase the 7% train users? Would improving the existing network make better use of 30 billion pounds? Also, the mind reading software developed at University College London and the increasing powers of computers. Will a machine ever outsmart the human brain, and with cameras everywhere these days, are our memories better remembered by humans than electronics? Plus, we looked ahead to Mothers Day, giving mums the credit they so rightly deserve. All that, and a full review of the morning papers.

I’m off for five days, and in my place next week is Nick Abbot.

Subscribe and download the podcasts for a catch up, and join me in a couple of weeks.
