Our positive financial experience

Posted by Tre Azam on October 11, 2008 at 16:32PM

The credit crunch isn't all bad. What are the good things to come out of these hard times?
For all those bored of the doom and gloom of the credit crisis you wil be pleased to know today we flipped the script and decided to get positive on the crunch. today on lbc97.3. I started by asking what is the silver lining and can we start changin our pessimisitc attitudes into glowing positive thoughts surrounding the impending crisis and brilliantly we managed to compile a huge list of good things to come out of the bad situation. It took a while to get going but in the end i had most of you converted to the idea of renaming the credit crunch into the "positive financial experience).

So some of the top positives to come out were:

More family time and focus
People working harder and opening up their minds to new jobs and opportunities
greater understanding of the financial world and markets
global and national unity in purpose
better regulations
lesser bonuses for fat cats
councils and government exposed for bad spending habits
the realisation that there is more to life tha money
less food therefore les fat people therefore less Jamie Oliver
+++Many More

I also asked for the top 5 lessons we could pass on to the youth and these were:

1: Live within your means
2: Be more vigilant with your money
3: Spread your risk
4: Save now for rainy days (or months)
5: Do not shy away from knowledge that could help you make the most of bad situations (save to be cash rich in crisis)

Right, that said we then moved onto the subject of protests and asked if they even work. i was joined on my youth panel by Priya Shah and Mohammed Shahzad who helped me get a greater understanding into their opinions on money and protests and to be honest the outcome was unexpected but brilliant.

it seems protests without serious emotion are just not successful, the liberal nicey nice approach does  not work and the greatest achievements through protest have been achieved when our backs were to the wall, it seems we are too polite till we get angry.....and then we are a force to be reckoned with.

Bring back the passion without aggression and maybe, just maybe we can regain control of this beautiful land!

Till next week keep it tuned to LBC.
