Hammersmith and Fulham Council have issued more than 11,000 fines to drivers in the bus lane on Shepherd's Bush Road, just off the Hammersmith gyratory system.

But the Parking and Traffic Appeals Service has upheld complaints, saying drivers would not know they were in a bus lane until it was too late.

Among the rulings in the adjudications, the panel stated: "The confusion to motorists is plainly evident from the CCTV footage.

"The signage ... is highly confusing for the motorist and therefore not adequate. The sign barely gives the motorist any warning."

The council is now being called on to refund all the fines they have issued at the junction.
