Sir Bradley Wiggins To Cycle in RideLondon-Surrey Event

Thursday 7th August 2014

Sir Bradley Wiggins set to join Team Sky for weekend London-Surrey road race.

Team Sky have announced today that Sir Bradley Wiggins will be cycling in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic over the weekend as a late addition to their squad.

Sunday’s event will be Sir Wiggins’ first race since returning from Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games where he took home Silver for England in the men’s 4000 metres team pursuit. It will also be Wiggins’ first road race since a June Monmouthshire appearane.

The four time Olympic gold medallist will bolster the six-man team for the 200 km race with his Commonwealth Games teammate Luke Rowe, world champion Philippe Gilbert, and sprinters, Mark Renshaw, Alessandro Petacchi and Elia Viviani.

Race director Mick Bennet has said: “We are delighted to welcome Sir Bradley to Prudential RideLondon this weekend. He completes an already first-class line-up for the event.”

Wiggins will be the first Tour de France winner to participate in the event.
