Six Killed In Single Vehicle Crash In Dallas

Monday, 1st September 2014 17:47

Six people have been killed in a single vehicle crash after the driver lost control and smashed into a tree.

A 2004 maroon Chevrolet Impala was travelling close to the intersection of Bonnie View Road and Highland Hills Drive in Dallas at about 9.10pm on Sunday when the accident happened.

Law Enforcement officials told CBSDFW that the driver lost control while heading south along Bonnie View Road and the vehicle struck a kerb.

It then veered into the central reservation before careering back into a tree.

Several of the vehicle's occupants were trapped inside which resulted in a number of emergency crews having to attend.

Four of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were taken to the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas but also died.

Among those who died were a 21-year-old woman, a 20-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old man.

The ages of the other two female victims have not been released but an official confirmed to CBSDFW that some of the victims were children.

Investigators have said that speed is thought to have been a factor in the crash. The speed limit along the road is 40mph.
