Stay-At-Home Mum To Miliband: 'You Think I'm Worthless'
Friday 1st August 2014
Ed Miliband was given a rough ride by a stay-at-home mother live on LBC, when she told him: "You are saying that the unpaid work I do is worthless."
In a fiery exchange, Imogen in Manchester called Mr Miliband to ask what he was going to do to help single parents.
And when he said he doesn't have an easy solution for this problem, she countered: "You don't have ANY solution, Mr Miliband."
Mr Miliband responded: "We need to keep taxes as low as possible on your husband who is going out to work.
"I wouldn't have chosen the child benefit change, but we're going to have trouble reversing that and I've said that very clearly.
"I would love to do this, but where is the money going to come from?
"Part of my responsiblity is to make sure that we deal with the nations finances properly, we get the deficit down. That's what we've said we'll do.
"At the moment, I don't think we've got a source of money to do that.
"I totally understand the injustice that you feel."
