Gallery: On first sight, the iPad 2 doesn't seem very different from the original. It's not until you see it side by side that you realise that it's been completely redesigned. 30% thinner, edge to edge glass front and smooth rounded edges all contribute to it looking deceptively thin. It's a beautifully designed piece of technology and our photographs simply don't do it justice.
While the screen technology is the same, the tech inside is new. Using the new A5 chip, it offers up to double the speed of its predecessor. A new graphics card gives it a staggering increase of up to 9 times the speed, so combined with the new gyroscope, mapping, gaming and photo manipulation all become faster and easier to use.
