Respects to a Legend

Posted by Steve Allen on June 20, 2014 at 06:45AM

RIP Gerry Goffin
Morning team,
Steve Allen here and we've finally reached the holy grail, the pinnacle of the week! It's Friday. Although I believe it's going to be a hot weekend, which will ruin my plans.
We've some fantastic guests for you this weekend, 4 legends. Mr Ronnie Corbett is in to talk about his comedy career and Jay, Jimmy and Merrill Osmond are in to talk to you about their music tour, which is funnily enough called the 'Last Tour', although they assure me that it won't be their final swansong!

We've had some fantastic stories on the free podcast all week, but we end the blog with a sad story about one of the worlds most famous lyricists. The prolific American songwriter Gerry Goffin - who was behind more than 50 hits - has died at the age of 75. He's best-known for tracks like: You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman, Up on the Roof, and The Loco-Motion. All fantastic songs, and he teamed up with his ex wife Carole King. It's sad news to bring you on a Friday, but it's only right to pay respects to a legend.

Thank you for all of your texts, tweets and emails this week!

Have a fantastic weekend,

Let's speak again on Sunday
