Hope you’re OK today. A very busy day for me, as you know – hence the delay in me posting this blog. I had to meet with Jeff Brazier and Gloria Hunniford this morning, so make sure you keep an ear open for those In Conversations when they come out.
Today we had the sad news that Frank Thornton has died at the age of 92. It’s such as a sad loss, and Frank was one of the few remaining cast members of Are You Being Served; Now I think it’s only Nicola Smith left. He was a consummate performer, who I think held the whole thing together. He rang me one – I can’t for the life of me remember what it was about – but he was such a lovely man, so our thoughts and best wishes are with his family and friends. You know, I still very much enjoy watching Are You Being Served. It’s of the same ilk as all those shows at that time, and it was very much OF the time. Not sure if it would translate now, but at the time we absolutely loved it.
And we were right! Again, we were right about Natalie Cassidy. She’s admitted that the reason she was conveniently snapped in the park exercising is because she’s putting together a fitness and diet DVD. Obviously she was wearing a full face of make up as she worked out, but I don’t know why she’s doing this again. Natalie admitted last time that she was miserable when she lost all that weight, not to mention the fact if you REALLY wanted to lose weight, why don‘t you just go to the doctors and get advice from them?! So we can expect to see Natalie on all the chat show programmes in the near future talking about getting healthy and how she stays trim and why she doesn’t play her trumpet anymore….
And our favourite columnist is back for day 2! Samantha Brick has decided in her infinite wisdom that we need to hear about her dreary life and naff husband in great extent. She seems to think he is the most good looking man in the world and women are always throwing themselves at him…. I think she’s wrong. He is NOT good looking, and he wears slippers! Samantha, dear, you 5 minutes are up. Please just continue as you did in France… away from us!
That’s it from me today. I hope you downloaded the full podcast and free extra podcast of the show from the LBC website – go to lbc.co.uk. I look forward to talking to you tomorrow.
Enjoy the (little bit of) sunshine today!
